Page 158 of the MT7688 datasheet says that the Omega2S datasheet (section 2.5.7.1) should be capable of 921600 baud on its serial ports, but the Omega2S says that the board is only capable of up to 345600 baud.

The u-boot config even shows 921600 as one of the supported rates.

Any suggestions on how to get this speed? Will it be necessary to build our own kernel?

@Evidlo it might be doable by changing the DTS file for the Omega2 family.

Here is where UART0 at 115200 baud is selected for the serial terminal:
https://github.com/OnionIoT/source/blob/openwrt-18.06/target/linux/ramips/dts/OMEGA2.dtsi#L10

Try changing that to your desired baud rate and building a new firmware. Let us know how it goes!
