I noticed that CUPS 3.0 is planned for 2023. And it removes support for raw queues which we currently rely on.
Will CUPS 2.x be EOL once 3.0 is released or are there plans to support it for an extended period of time?

@sesu-bio We haven't discussed any specific support timeframe for CUPS 2.x once CUPS 3.0 is out, but this is largely a discussion of how long distros will continue to package and support CUPS 2.x. I will make sure to bring this up at the Linux Plumbers session in September.

That said, given the history of CUPS packaging on enterprise-oriented Linux distributions, I suspect you will still see CUPS 2.x in use until at least 2030. Whether OpenPrinting is the organization "supporting" it is unknown, and I highly doubt we will continue with 2.x feature releases of any kind.
