How to remove a firewall from a template stack

I am struggling to determine the right syntax for removing a firewall from a template stack. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!!

Anyone figured this out?

I have tried both:

pano.add(fw)
tps = TemplateStack(template_stack)
pano.add(tps)
tps.refresh()
tps.devices.remove(fw.serial)
fw.delete()

Which results in:

panos.errors.PanDeviceXapiError:   123 cannot be deleted because of references from:
 template-stack -> Test_Stack -> devices -> 123

And:

pano.add(fw)
tps = TemplateStack(template_stack)
pano.add(tps).add(fw)
fw.delete()

Which it accepts, but the firewall is still preset in Panorama, and is part of the stack.

This seems to work:

pano.add(fw)
tps = TemplateStack(template_stack)
pano.add(tps)
tps.refresh()
tps.devices.remove(fw.serial)
tps.apply()
fw.delete()
