Preflight Checklist

  • I have read and I agree to follow the support disclaimer.
  • I am sure that my feature request has nothing to with third party extensions.
  • I am using the latest available Paperback version (currently 0.8).
  • I have searched the issue tracker for a feature request that matches the one I want to file, without success.

What type of Apple device is the feature request for?

All device types

Describe the feature

Hi all, the Apple OS's have a fantastic inbuilt OCR feature, including reading text directly from images via Live Text. Paperback is a fantastic resource for consuming Japanese language content, but the current 'method' of using OCR with Paperback is to manually save and export each page as an image, and then use OCR in an external app.

If possible, the integration of OCR capabilities would drastically improve this experience.

Feature Motivation

OCR support directly within Paperback would greatly increase lookups for complicated Kanji and/or other language vocabulary. This would also increase Paperback's appeal as a tool for language learning as well as media consumption.
