Can't Run Program on Windows 10 Platform

I download the program following the instructions. The program successfully installed on my windows 10 pc, but when I double-click “start.bat” the screen quickly flashes an image of what looks like the Command Prompt (cmd) screen and then its gone. I can’t run the program. How do I run the program in Windows 10?

Here is how I got started in Windows 10:

1. Download the Oracle Java JDK, not just the JRE.
2. modify start.bat to point to the new JAVA_HOME:
   for example: set JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_74
