Research papers often need a support statement, such as "This work was supported by my Uncle Bill."
In the amsart style, the support element in frontmatter becomes a \dedicatory above the abstract.
We may need more elements, such as dedicatation or funding or thanks.
A related issue is that some journals prescribe where to put that information.
(In my current case, at the end of the main text. I'll do that with a paragraphs,
so I do not need this issue addressed right now.)
