Linking a transaction to a transferred contribution

Sometimes we are faced with the problem that a contribution linked to a transaction needs to be transferred to another contact. This often happens when a new contact has been created, but it later turns out that we already know them, or when it turns out that the bank account belongs to a known household.

At the moment, the transaction is not being transferred along with the contribution, which can result in the link between the transaction and the contribution being completely lost when the incorrectly created contact is deleted.

I know from reading other issues here that you don't really like the idea of changing transactions once they have been created. So I would like to ask for your opinion on this before implementing a fix that might not be accepted.
