For both historical and practical reasons, I believe it is necessary that qalculate keeps a record of number of releases it does.
The simplest example where it is also practical is take the example of Debian. The version of qalculate in Debian is pretty old, see https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/qalculate-gtk

I am well aware of the old (or very old) versions in Debian and Ubuntu. There is not much I can do about it. Dependent packages will need be recompiled, but no other changes are required. Users can install the up-to-date snap package.
