Remove serifs in "r"

The mono "r" is the only small letter with top and foot serifs, which makes it look out of place. Please consider removing these serifs and widening the curved part instead.

I am using the mono font and I also find small 'r' to be stylistically incompatible with the rest of the letters in the font.
Could the authors of the font (or other contributors) create a stylistic set (if that's a proper term) with an alternative small letter 'r' without serifs, so that it can be selected where appropriate?
