The hex tools are very powerful, but they are all effectively just downgrades to normal tools. The hex pickaxe has an effective durability of 640 without any hex casting: 2 dust per block broken, 1280 media (assuming you put in the MAX gloop, which is itself a fairly large spend). This is a little under half of the diamond pickaxe's base durability and 10x less the effective durability of an unbreaking 3 netherite pickaxe for something that itself costs netherite and 3 stacks of charged amethyst. The media cost for block breaking should be negligible for a tool crafted from a pickaxe, it's a tool after all. 2 dust per block is less media-effective than the break spell, a spell with an effective range of 32 blocks and insta break. The hex pickaxe should not cost as much media as it does with its limitations, if any. If the hex tools had durability it could be reasonable to have no media cost.

With 640 effective durability, it makes the hex pickaxe practically unusable over other spells and other tools.
