OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK overwrites stepsize_controller! in OrdinaryDiffEqCore #2532

Describe the bug 🐞
OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK overwrites stepsize_controller! in OrdinaryDiffEqCore. This only happens when I also have DynamicalSystems installed.

I notice that OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK.PredictiveController was refactored just last week...

It's OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK v1.1.1. Here is the st -m output. There is a green arrow next to OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK, but when I using Pkg; Pkg.update("OrdinaryDiffEqFIRK"), that neither changes Manifest.toml nor fixes the issue.

ChaosTools.jl seems to be the problem. Remove it. You can't use SpecialFunctions.jl v2 with it, and that means that like half of the Julia ecosystem isn't compatible 😅 JuliaDynamics/ChaosTools.jl#338 is required (CC @Datseris).

I can work around it with JuliaSymbolics/Symbolics.jl#1363 but ChaosTools is still in the wrong here.

ChaosTools does allow SpecialFunctions v2 in its Projet.toml... So I guess the interval arethmetic people did something.

I'm back here to say that ChaosTools.jl can't be the problem. In my personal projects, out side of development, SpecialFunctions works fine with ChaosTools and OrdinaryDiffEq:

Sorry, I had thought about that it restricted SpecialFunctions v2. If you look at the stats, anything that doesn't allow SpecialFunctions v2 at this point is a ticking time bomb, "half of the ecosystem" is a pretty close approximation.

So to be more precise, it's incompatible with ~4% of packages, since about half require the Polynomials post break. I'm not sure what in the list is then requiring Polynomials v4 but it's pretty common so I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than one thing.

And note from this I'm making a few more things more robust to this just to give the ecosystem a little bit of Slack. And #2534 is a necessary change anyways which will make this go away. But for pedanticness I do like to track these issues down so we get the bumps we need since otherwise other cases will just trigger in the same way in the future.

Man this is so annoying... So many packages releasing breaking stuff. DSP also had another breaking release that for whatever reason CompatHelper didn't tell me about.

Double check CompatHelper is active by looking at the actions tab. If no commits are made in a 3 month period then CompatHelper will disable itself.

Okay, so I found that DSP is not the culptrit. It really is all because of interval arethmetic. That keeps bounded Polynomials as well. So I need to update the IntervalArethmetic. But amazingly the developers released the version without a documentation (docs only exist for the previous major version) so I don't even know how. So for now we unfortunately have to wait.

The FIRK Generator split was done, and with that and other changes in the ecosystem we should be much more robust to this.
