Only Works When the Screen is On

This app only does what it's supposed to do only when I keep the screen turned on. Even though the permission to run in background is given, it doesn't beep or give voice alerts when the screen is off. Keeping the screen on all the time drains the battery!

Set the workout interval and rest interval to 30 seconds, tap on start and then turn off the screen. You might/might not hear it beep with every second in the beginning, but once the rest interval begins there are NO alterts. No beeps, no voice. You have to turn on the screen for that. Entirely defeats the purpose. Please release a fix for this bug.

Same issue with your Circuit Trainer app.

App version: Latest one.

Tested the apps after downloading them from F-Droid and Play Store. Got the same results.

@Kamuno @Yonjuni Ok, I thought I found the real culprit: battery optimizations. I removed this app from battery optimizations and it worked well with the screen off when both intervals were set to 1 minute. But after I set the workout interval to 2 minutes, rest interval to 2 minutes and 30 seconds and no. of sets 7, it didn't work as consistently as before when both intervals were set to 1 minute (same no. of sets). Still had to turn on the screen to get the beep going. Permission to run in the background was granted.

This is clearly a bug. Please look into it.
