Torch and Sign placement

I've searched existing issues and couldn't find a duplicate.

What happened?

If you place torches / signs on the side of a block, they are getting displayed correctly for a short time, but then they get straigth. Even if they would "stand" on top of air.

To Reproduce

Placing on the side of a block.

Expected behavior

Should stay on the side of a block.
