Accounts with messed-up Hives throw Network timeout (404) error #710

Related to trac tickets 6369 & 6347

account QAthis has something wrong with Hive (they're still trying to figure it out) - trac ticket 6369 provides a bandaid error message on web that the Hive device cannot be accessed.
on mobile, this account gives me a Network Timeout (status: 404) error that eventually goes away and allows me to navigate normally, albeit with a blank hive.
