Many themes offer a kiosk mode that enables a user to lock the view types thus making erroneous directional navigation no longer causing view type selection

I'll have to think about how I'd want to go about doing this.

  • Do I just remove the view buttons from the appbar and leave the rest?
  • Do I completely remove access to the appbar when kiosk mode is enabled?
  • What buttons would you need to have when kiosk mode is enabled, if I don't remove access? I'm thinking search, sort direction / method, anything else?

I personally don't use kiosk mode so if you or anyone else do please let me know what functions are still needed / what aren't that would help a lot.

I'd use it to make it more user friendly for my spouse, that would probably mean hiding the appbar in its entirety.

Search is still available from home, sorting options (in my experience) are rarely touched once set.

Some people might disagree but to me it doesn't really serve a purpose to have an option to just reduce the number of items in the appbar, the problem is the appbar appearing when you don't want it to (which is especially true on my ouya where the d-pad seems to have a will of its own)
