When enabling "Disable alphabetic overlay when scrolling Media" the overlay is still being shown while scrolling media (though the letters aren't).

P.S: Wouldn't it make more sense to change the label of options like this to "Use alphabetic overlay when scrolling Media". Enabling an option that says "disable" is kind of like a double negative.

It's best not to think of it as disable / enable. Think of it more like no / yes. Will look into the issue.

A simple solution is to comment out the following two lines in Includes_SortLetter.xml under <include name="Common_SortLetter">, comment out lines 7-21.

So you're basically commenting out the entire image control, <control type="image">
