steam authentication failed body

Hello, Mighty GitHub Gurus and Software Sorcerers. Have any of you encountered a problem while accessing Steam through a web proxy? I'm trying to figure out if it's an issue with Steam's service or my web proxy. For the past three hours, I've been receiving the following error message:

Socks connect tcp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx->steamcommunity.com:443: username/password authentication failed

Everything was working fine before this, and it's back to normal now, but those three hours were problematic. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
