Feature request: remove bing search from search bar #326
Comments
Sure thin, this can be added. |
This adds in the feature to disable Bing Search for issue #326
@WormChickenWizard - This has been added. I tested it on my machine as well and it works as expected. Please let me know your experience. |
I just did a clean install of 20h2 in a vm, downloaded the zip from the master branch. When I ran remove all bloatware, disable cortana, and disable edge pdf (out of habit) and restarted the vm, the search web functionality in start still persisted. |
I’ll take a second look at this tomorrow. Thanks for the info. It worked for me on my machine so I’m a bit surprised. Do you have the transcript log located in C:\Temp\Windows10Debloater?

Yes I want to say that every time I manually disabled Bing search on a system, there was some registry value that wasn't immediately apparent that was entangled with them. I want to say maybe it had something to do with disabling cortana. Although I did disable cortana via the option in the program and both before and after it displayed bing results. |
I'm sure I'm not the only one that is annoyed by the fact that the search bar by default searches the web instead of just the files and programs on the computer. There are known group policy and registry modifications that can be made to disable this functionality. It would be nice to have this automated to save time.
