MIDI Output for Controllers

MIDI input works great, but the lack of requests for output is surprising. I'd like to be able to configure things like lights, sound, etc. for a MIDI controller. Things like flashing lights to the beat of a song would be a nice thing to be able to configure in Lua, and would be a great way to improve immersion in modfiles. It could also help with the demonstration screen to see which note to prepare for on the physical device for beginners who don't yet know where to press or step on a controller or pad. This could work similar to the way the Reflex pad works. I have several ideas for using MIDI output already, including interactive segments in charts and visual effects for MIDI devices in gameplay.
