Nationwide View
To start, click on the hyperlinked logo on the top left of the page entitled: "MORTALITYMINDER". Following this the site will navigate to the page called "Nationwide View". It looks like this:
Next, we will review the functionality of this page. On the top, you will see a grey bar (orange arrow). To the right of the grey bar, there will be a state name (red arrow). To the right of the state name, there will be a cause of death (blue arrow). For state name and cause of death you can click the drop down to change the parameter.
There is a grey column on the far left of the page. It contains a brief summary of our app and some concise instructions. In the picture below it is identified with a red outline.
To the right of the grey column and circled in red, you will see a map in shades of red - the reds indicate the intensity of deaths in that county for the year range selected. Immediately above the map are multiple rectangular buttons. To change the year range shown, press the button containing your desired years.
To the right of the map and circled in red, you will see a graph. It plots the trend-line for the selected state alongside the trend for the nation. The green vertical line will move with the year. Its purpose is to aid in visualizing whether the state is above or below the national average in the number of deaths per thousand for the selected cause of death from 2000-2017.
On the far right and circled in red, There is an arrow. Click the arrow to turn the page.
