Created a custom sensor to list CPU Percentage (for example: formatted as "6.5%"). Sensor works great and home assistant finds it just fine. However the entity is not recognized as a statistic that can be graphed. Home Assistant documentation suggested pointing you to https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/core/entity/sensor/#long-term-statistics.

Could this be added as a feature? Perhaps a true/false setting in settings.yaml to enable long term statistics for the custom sensor?

So excited to find this! Was talking to a friend about needing this exactly at the same time you announced it.

Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback and pointing this out! It's definitely something I need to implement and having it as an opt-in feature for individual sensors is a good idea!
