Assuming you have the U and not the U+, that's the correct version... but there might be something about loading it from HEX when there is such a large change from the version you have in your flash (mainly to do with the kernel jump table). DIR is working normally on my U+.
So considering that running the HEX might be the problem I decided to bite the bullet and reflashed the latest kernel version on my U, and well the DIR command is still not working... There is definetely something going on
OK. When the kernel is a little closer, let's review this. In case you need it, I believe you can roll back the kernel with the BIN file posted on the u-fgpa-release channel on the Discord server.
