Descriptive summary

Redesign the metadata display in order to make the elements and corresponding values more meaningful and readable.

Background

Schematic showing all possible metadata elements
Spreadsheet showing old/current label and new proposed label and organizational section
Example of a current single image in the new layout
Example of an aerial photograph in the new layout

Acceptance criteria

Done means:

  • Desktop metadata display matches mock ups
  • Mobile metadata display collapses to single column in new style (rather than 2 column display on desktop)
  • Metadata element labels are updated to match spreadsheet and schematic
  • Metadata elements display in newly assigned sections under their respective headings
  • Item metadata and Collection metadata display in separate "tabs"
  • Description matches the most granular level available (collection > series > item)
  • When value text wraps, the value text displays below the element label and a vertical bar appears to the left of the value
  • Display Label column on the data dictionary has been updated
  • Labels have been updated in the DAMS metadata configuration file
  • Updated labels display in the public-facing UI
