This is the strongly-coupled LETKF applied to the Climate Forecast System version 2 (CFSv2). Default settings use the T62/L64 version of GFS and the 0.5 degree MOM. Fix files for the CFSv2 must be obtained separately. Information about how to run most of the scripts can be shown by running with the -h flag, (e.g. ./util/scripts/cfsr_get -h)

The atmospheric DA is built on the GFS-LETKF (Lien, 2013). The ocean DA is built on the MOM-LETKF (Penny, 2013).

The method of strong coupling (still being developed) is described in Sluka, 2016

Getting Started

After obtaining the CFSv2-LETKF repository, the following steps should get one running the CFS to generate a free running nature run.

Weakly-coupled observing system simulation experiment (OSSE)

The following steps for a weakly coupled experiment assume that a nature run for several months is available starting at Jan 1, 2010, though you can use whatever date you want.
