Shop New Bed Design Process
Bed
- Too simplistic
- Inconsistent design – doesn’t look like pixel art
- Perspective is not ideal – would prefer isometric
The above inspirations were mainly used to get a feel for how an isometric view of a bed should be positioned. I found that hard initially but managed to get a good outline from which to slowly progress (as seen below) to a finished product.
The bed required the most iterative process by far. Iterations 1 & 2 are the first basic outlines that lay out the groundwork for the bed. Iterations 3 to 6 slightly expand on detail and add detail & pillows to the bed. Iterations 7 through to 12 include small refinements in colour, pillow placement, and new pillow design as well as the black outline. Users additionally reported that they’d prefer a more traditional bed sheet design & a frame that matched it. Iterations 13 & finally 14 improve the colour scheme to adhere to the users.
- Fully redesigned bed
- New isometric perspective
- More consistent design that is pixel art
- Added detail with frame, pillow, and bed stubs
- Added detail to sheets for a more aesthetic design
