adding destructible terrain to the map would add a new level of strategy to a tired old game that needs a good new update, what I suggest is this.
making spells affect terrain, if your hero has an explosive move or rams another hero into something it should potentially deal more damage, for example kicking someone with tusk into another hero, tree, cliff, off a cliff, should deal dmg, the terrain should also be affected by this, so as the battle goes on, the terrain will get more and more deformed, players should move slower uphill and faster downhill, so if enigma casts a black hole and it deforms the terrain and makes a crater, then the heroes should have a harder time climbing out of it, which also gives a strategic advantage where you could potentially protect objectives be artificially creating a high ground near a tower.
towers should be affected by this as well and take dmg if the ground beneath them is deformed, so naturally an explosion would deal a good amount of extra damage to a tower.
The creep waves should also be much more deadly, higher attack damage, because at the moment they do nothing in terms of damage and are just there as cannon fodder money.
there should also be a way to spend gold to buy additional lane creeps, such as the siege catapults and the captains that heal, but more then that, certain heroes should be able to buy lane creeps based on their abilities, techies buying mine creeps that explode on towers or when killed, lina recruiting mage creeps that fire fireballs and deal decent magic dmg, eidolons from enigma, neutral creeps from chen, which would also make chen not entirely useless as he could potentially heal incoming creep waves with his ulti?
troll being able to buy trolls units, ogre being able to buy ogres, the list is endless as each hero could make his own type of lane creep.
In heroes of newerth there was a hero that summons a roshan type boss to run down a lane of choice, warlock could make a golem run down a lane for a hefty amount of gold?
Also being able to rebuild a tower for a cost would be pretty cool, might make games go on significantly longer though...
some heroes such as tree sentinel could buy a tower upgrade that permanently wraps a tree in healing vines?
or upgrading the tower to lash out at nearby heroes with vines?
underlord could purchase a warp gate between two towers of choice?
At the moment dota doesnt feel like a battle but more of a race to get more gold than the other team which isnt as much fun as it could be, there is potential to bring dota forward as a game and bring people back by innovating how we play the game.
I suggest turning dota back into a battle by being able to actually use the forces given to you and adding strategic elements to the game so the game doesnt devolve into whose carry is stronger at end game type scenario.
well I hope that gives a little insight into what I'd like to see happen as a person who has played dota for 20 years and loves this game.
