It would be great to have scrolling functionality with a modifier/hyper key and some letter buttons or even better a trackpad move. This might help help to emulate trackpoint by some degree

Well It do have scrolling functionality according to Doc-Navigation 😉

If you hold ✱⇧⌥ (Capslock + Shift + Control) all together. The navigation cursor will turn into mouse wheel (horizontal & vertical) and works just like trackpad.
