Description

After going through the install steps for SkyrimSE on the wiki, launching steam says it is no longer supported on my OS. Weird because it was working before going through the steps and my bottle is also in windows 10. Changing this to windows 11, I then get an error from steam telling me this (see below image).

I think it might have something to do with my winetricks I installed but I'm not sure. No amount of restarting or swapping bottle OS's helps.

Note: after going through the wine configuration and removing all of the existing overrides, steam is able to work and I can play but with the sound issues persisting.

Steps to reproduce

In a new bottle under windows 10 per the wiki instructions.

  1. Install in Steam as normal
  2. In Whisky, find SkyrimSELauncher.exe in the Program list and press Show in Finder Rename SkyrimSELauncher.exe to something else, and rename SkyrimSE.exe to SkyrimSELauncher.exe
  3. On your bottle click Winetricks...
  4. Install the following tricks in the following order dotnet48 vcrun2019 dxvk1103 d3dx11_43 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47 faudio

Expected behaviour

SkyrimSE and Steam to run with no issue.

I would like to add, skipping the winetricks steps results in me able to play the game fine enough but the audio channels seem to be messed up and I cant hear anything in front of me. Only stuff to the direct right or left.

The reason you can only hear sounds from the left and right is likely because the center speaker of the 5.1 surround sound system is disabled.
By only installing the faudio.dll, the center speaker sounds can be played even in stereo.
This was confirmed with Whisky 2.3.4 and Sequoia 15.3.
The Steam error might be caused by some other DLL.

Copilot translated this for me. Sorry if there are any awkward expressions.
