I've searched for any related issues and avoided creating a duplicate issue.

Please give us a description of what happened

Hi there. i have a large database with 1 million of users. Currently we have high server load related with author archives. I would like to add to speed up queries elastic search support here https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/blob/trunk/inc/sitemaps/class-author-sitemap-provider.php#L93. Is it possible?

Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. As you have more than 1 million users, have you tried enabling the sitemap caching on your website or for the users via some code to check whether it helps to reduce the requests?

If you have any ideas to improve the code or the generation of the sitemap, please let us know.
