If an admin needs to force merge something, this would be the setting to change - untick the box&save, forcefully merge a PR & tick the box again |

@adobecom/admins I don't know who disabled bypassing the rules for main, but please ensure the rule is only disabled when making critical changes and enable it again afterwards. Admins should not be allowed to bypass settings in a regular setting. Otherwise, admins can easily push to main/production by simply clicking the wrong button / pushing on the wrong branch / pushing to the wrong origin. Those mistakes are incredibly easily to happen and can bring down the whole site. |

Admins can by-pass certain repository settings, such as force merging PRs, force pushing branches, creating commits without going through a pull request. As mishaps can easily happen, this has been disabled to prevent any mistakes such as accidently pushing to the main branch.
If an admin sees a use-case where a force push, a force merge, or a quick change is absolutely required - it can be selectively enabled in the repository settings for either the stage or main branch. Ensure to disable the setting once the action has been done again.
