Improvements for the 2024 Survey Year

Updates made in 2022:

• clean up functions to be more streamlined (aka fix all the quick fix script from 2022 last minute changes!)
• Use AI and GOA grids from akgfmaps

General

• Fix legend bar on BS temps Coldest water temperatures in the EBS #15
• Use straight longitude lines to divide up the AI regions (instead of boxes around regions)
• Cutting the number of color breaks to less than 7 to aid with interpretation, which is generally a good rule of thumb for figure design
• Provide more nuanced options for color scheme. Rainbow appears to be most comfortable to partners, but is not color blind friendly. The red inferno viridis color scheme left partners feeling that the figure made temperatures seem warmer. Comments included preference for dark blue for cold colors.

There have been some issues in trying this out. Data appears to have too many typos and 0s that should be NAs to execute properly (as of June 23).

Possibly see if comms can get an intern on this? This could allow for...

• more past years to be viewed
• Easier ways for data to be downloaded
• more place labels
• more bathymetry options
• ability to zoom in and out/interactivity with plots. Could be especially important for AI extent
• possibly use this template or reinvent from this dormant project to create shiny app
