I got an error while trying to enable the extensions. No icon showed up in the notebook page either.

$ jupyter-nbextension enable jupyter-annodoc
Enabling notebook extension jupyter-annodoc...
      - Validating: problems found:
        - require?  X jupyter-annodoc

Seems like jupyter can't find that extension. Is it correctly installed? StackOverflow has several questions from people having the same problem with other extensions, a correct install seemed to help.
