Currently, split tunneling in the application assumes the ability to add a site (domain or IP address with mask support) or an application. However, for example, a Windows user does not have an exact understanding of which process in Windows is engaged in p2p exchange of updates for the OS and Microsoft Office, just as whether Steam uses the main application to exchange distributions between users, or another one launched as a hidden process or even as a service. (I'm not sure if Microsoft and Valve are using BitTorrent protocols in these examples, but you get the idea.) Similarly, in the case of Android, a user can add a BitTorrent client to the exceptions, but it will be enough to install another application and forget to add it to the exception to get an unpleasant situation with overspending of paid VPN traffic or even blocking of the account by the VPN provider.

Using a blacklist of protocols in these cases would be preferable. If possible, of course.
