looks like it needs some work though - we'll need the Set operation.

Do we need some kind of migration pathway to migrate existing GConf settings to GSettings?

I haven't looked in depth yet but I think we'll be fine just to make the switch, not sure it's even worth the effort of a migration tool tbh, the settings maintained there seem quite easy to reset, I don't think there's anything critical.
