The Access Proxy provide an easy way to access OpenSearch Dashboard from anywhere. But you can also use other ways to access the dashboard, which means you don’t need to set the dashboard website public or use extra instances. There are some other method.

  • Directly access the dashboard via intranet. If you have dedicated line or VPN to your VPC that OpenSearch cluster belongs to, you can directly access the “OpenSearch Dashboards URL (VPC)” from your office network or other network that connected to the VPC. You can find the URL in your OpenSearch service console.
  • Use bastion. You can launch a EC2 instance with user interface, like a Windows instance (RDP) or a Linux instance (Nice DCV), …
