Daemonize, notifications, etc.

I'm planning on forking in order to wrap this in a daemon, check status every n minutes, and report status changes (probably via sms or email). If you're interested in any or all of those features being incorporated here, I'm happy to open feature branches and pull requests.

Hi, I am no longer using this but feel free to open the feature branch. I am sure other people will find those features useful. I used a cron job to run this periodically.
