maybe it didn't use to matter, but the main function of your python script needs to be 'lambda_handler' now in Amazon Lambda

@danhimalplanet is there any reason why you can't change the handler name to handler.port_check in your lambda configuration? I agree that lambda_handler is more standardised, by changing it at this point may break backward compatibility.
