Hey there,

We are currently working with the "Coupled Simulator for Research on Driver-Pedestrian Interactions" and facing challenges in setting up the VARJO XR-3 headset, especially in our complex, multi-camera simulation environment.

System Specifications:

  • Workstation:
    • RAM: 128GB
    • GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090
    • CPU: Intel Xeon W7-2475x, 20 cores, 40 logical processors
    • OS: Windows 11
  • Windows 11 Laptop:
    • RAM: 32GB
    • GPU: Nvidia Geforce 4090 Laptop GPU
    • CPU: Intel Core I9-13900HX, 24 cores, 32 logical processors
    • OS: Windows 11
  • MacBook Pro with M1-Pro & M2-Max
  • VR Headset: VARJO XR-3

Challenges with VARJO XR-3:

  • Integrating the VARJO XR-3 into our simulation environment is proving to be a complex task, particularly due to the multi-camera setup of the simulation.
  • We are seeking advice and guidance on how to effectively set up the VARJO XR-3 in such a scenario.

Could you provide any insights or steps that were effective in integrating the VARJO VR-2 in a similar multi-camera simulation setup? We would appreciate any specific adjustments, settings, or configurations that have been successful in this context.

Issue Resolution for VARJO XR-3 Setup in Multi-Camera Simulation Environment

Hello everyone,

we have successfully resolved the challenges we were facing with setting up the VARJO XR-3 headset.

Solution Details

The key to solving this issue involved a few critical steps:

  1. Installation of the VARJO SDK: We began by installing the VARJO SDK, which provided the necessary tools and drivers for the headset.

  2. Integration into DriverLogic & Rig: We then integrated an XR Origin into the DriverLogic and Rig.

  3. Configuring the Main Camera: In the Main Camera settings, we added and enabled the component to "Tracked input device." This allowed us to set up the camera to track a Generic HD Device.

  4. Head Motion Translation: With these settings, the VARJO XR-3 headset was recognized as an input device, and most importantly, the motion of my head was translated into the simulation.

Conclusion

This solution effectively integrated the VARJO XR-3 into our complex simulation environment.

Best regards,

Timur
