Your long-term self ("I would like to get in shape!") and your
short-term self ("I do not feel like getting off the couch right now!")
are sometimes in conflict. Short-Term Self tends to win because, well,
who do you think's the one calling the shots when the time comes to take
action? Unless Previous Self entered into a binding commitment. This can
take many forms, like a pre-planned workout date with a friend.
Beeminder aims to add more such tools to your long-term self's arsenal.

practical tips and Beeminder philosophy:

The inaugural blog post could also make sense to point to as a TOTD but it's sooo ancient idk.
