Short Doco. as Requested
1. I would figure out why Hibernate validator is not firing for the DTO using @Valid in the REST parameter.
Since I could not figure it out, the service has a dependency on the Validator and vice versa which Intellij
tells me is an anti-pattern.
2. I would use POSTMAN to simulate a series of concurrent calls to the transfer
endpoint, to validate the ACID properties of the transfer service, and to gauge performance.
I was going to write a bunch of tests for that but to be honest there is no way enough time for that.
Also, POSTMAN or JMeter would do a far better job.
I could be argued that this is CRITICAL to the application working properly...i.e. is the crux of it,
but without a proper harness it is not really worth trying to write a buggy test harness in the short time allotted.
3. I would make sure that logging was for debug purposes and error conditions and warnings was
liberally sprinkled in the critical path areas of the codebase.
4. I would make sure the transfer endpoint responded with JSON nicely for ALL exceptions in
the global handler...I tested one cas using Swagger...but that was all.
5. Finally, regarding the last requirement:
"Please focus on the application being "production-and-support-ready" for requirements already provided
- not on extra features/functionality that could be added"
I found this at odds with its predecessor paragraph in the README.pdf. However, what I would say is that I would
make sure that sufficient metrics and diagnostics were available (even by leveraging Springboot diagnostics)
in order to make sure the application is production ready.
Thanks for this very awesome challenge; it was very well crafted.
