What is the reason for mandatory account and identity updates

Why is it impossible to opt out from account/identity updates?

Can't speak for the project but i think it might be a nudge to handle them: you're receiving peoples' data, so if they deactivate or delete their account, you should update or remove any stored data accordingly, etc. Account and identity aren't really disconnected from the data.

Many simpler firehose projects (especially those that don't store data) really don't need them though. Maybe there's another reason.
