On 2022-01-28, Jason asked us to add the UCLA three-item loneliness scale to the F/U interviews.
We now want to do a brief descriptive paper using the loneliness scale as an outcome. Within this population, what's the level of loneliness? Is there an association between any past abuse and loneliness?
On 2024-03-01, Jason sent us some research questions.
Does prior self-reported abuse predict future loneliness scores in community-dwelling older adults who engage with EMT services?
Is the time since the self-reported abuse associated with loneliness scores?
I think definite covariates should be: Living situation operationalized by the count of others living with the older adult. That is likely better than living alone (yes or no). Marital status, health conditions, mental health conditions, especially depression if we have it, social support (if we have it), physical function (if we have it), any variables that may indicate relationship quality.
Tasks
Summarize missing data in the UCLA scale score
How many unique people completed the UCLA loneliness scale (Morri can help)
Calculate the UCLA scale total score with SD
Calculate descriptive statistics for the other variables of interest Jason flagged for us
Create a Table 1
