App freezes while downloading OSM and Aerial tiles #795

On a slow connection, or in the middle of nowhere, the application hangs while the app tries downloading tiles.

Zooming in and out or panning does not work. As soon as the tiles being downloaded finish the UI executes the previous gestures.
