Suggest using reupholster to get started. #1

I am a newbie and was looking for a way to get started with a simple example couchapp. I tried several tools, couchapp.py, soca, erica, etc. Either I couldn't install and run them correctly, or couldn't understand the error messages, or the tool would work but there was no viable example app to get started with. Erica was OK but I liked the more complete example app here, with bootstrap, etc. But like you say, I don't understand what node.js is or why I would want it on my computer.... I followed the instructions but got error messages I couldn't understand. Then I saw your pull request... Reupholster just works! Great. My only confusion is that it copies all the stuff in the attachments directory to the html directory and it uses that. I was first trying to make mods in the attachments directory and nothing was happening. So I would suggest in your fork, go ahead and change the format to a reupholster-native one, get rid of attachments, etc. (A directory called html is a more natural place to store code for a web app anyway IMO) |
I have added a way in reupholster to launch node.couch.js based projects. It is easy to use, and maybe less intimidating for none node users. You can decide the ordering, but I would hope this will bring more people into the couchapp world :)
