It's assumed in #424 that synthetic fuel technologies can run intermittently. In reality, the either can't be ramped up/down or there is an efficiency hit to doing so. At the same time, each "technology" in the model represents hundreds, if not thousands, of physical units. So it may be reasonable to assume on average that they have some ramping ability (e.g. as is undertaken with the nuclear fleet in France).
