Due to celestia-core being a fork, and working mainly off of the stable release versions of tendermint, we have a few changes in the v0.34.x-celestia branch that have not made it to master. After pulling changes from upstream #561, we should move changes that were only made to the release branch also to the ABCI++ branch (probably master).
Unfortunately, this will not be as simple as cherry-picking, as there are relevant refactors in tendermint/master that are not included in tendermint/v0.34.14
