Functionality changes

support for climbing n parents in format /\^+/
handle attempting to climb out of bound with error
appropriate test cases

Non-functional changes (can be reverted/changed if not appropriate)

update to eslint ^4
update to google-closure-compiler-js to fix gulp errors
enable es6 rules for linting
update code to use es6 conventions
use prefer-const, one-var, no-var, prefer-template
