Bring Citygram to your city
Thanks so much for considering bringing Citygram to your city. This page will attempt to give you everything you need to know to make that happen, as quickly as possible.
For more information on what makes a good dataset for Citygram, check out Citygram Dataset Best Practices page. Once you're satisfied that a satisfactory source exists, fork citygram/citygram-services, create a file like one of these examples, and submit a pull request when you're done.
When you are working on the service locally, you may find this site helpful. When you get a successful response locally, paste the results from your web browser window into the field and verify that you've placed the events in the correct location.
The Citygram pull request accomplishes three goals:
- Adds your city to cities.geojson
- Adds a background image suitable for your city.
- Gives the Citygram operator information about the dataset you've created in Step 1 needed to bring you online.
This pull request satisfies all three requirements, and is an excellent reference for bringing your city online. More information about this phase is available at Going Live. You can reference your own running install of this codebase to verify cities.geojson and the background image have been supplied successfully. This data can help you understand what information to provide in the gist.
Tell the world about it!
