Hi Colin,
Looks like a promising start and should solve the scalabity issues I saw forking the old lotherk version here https://github.com/egadsthefuzz/logstash-input-snmp . Was there any specific version you are developing against as I couldn't get it going right ootb and am keen to contribute if I can as this will be really handy at $dayjob

Let me push some commits and I'll followup on instructions on how to get it to work in your environment. I develop against latest master but it should work with Logstash 5 and 6 without problem.
Your feedback would be super useful!

@wgreynolds I moved the plugin into https://github.com/logstash-plugins/logstash-input-snmp with initial PR up for review logstash-plugins/logstash-input-snmp/pull/1 and roadmap meta issue logstash-plugins/logstash-input-snmp#2
