Current script does not support latest Frigate version (0.15), as confirmed by the developer, e.g., semantic search does not work due to missing packages.

The script will no longer work. Someone will have to fork and modify it with all the changes for 0.15 or set the version to 0.14. It will also have to be completely overhauled for 0.16 in the future again. This is not a supported install method. You can't use the tteck script for newer releases.

There is one previous discussion, but I made this one since the current script is now broken due to 0.15 being "latest release", which the script points to.

I also suggest that the script points to the version it has been verified for, and not to "latest".

Have you an Link? What needs to be considered? I was thinking about rebuilding the whole script anyway and upgrading directly to Debian 12.

so it makes sense to stay on 0.14.x version and wait and see - if the script is revised by you, you don't even have to go to the trouble of a new installation

I installed Frigate using the tteck script for Proxmox LXC, but I I am seeing sqlite3.OperationalError: /usr/local/lib/vec0.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in my logs.
Is this a bug?
No, this is not a bug, and Proxmox is not an officially supported install method. 
The tteck script is essentially a port of Frigate's Dockerfile, and every update to Frigate will require extensive changes to that script.
Someone will have to fork the script and modify it with all the changes for 0.15 or set the version to 0.14.

Let me shift some of the blame away from us. I just touched the package and optimized it, but it always fails because of the ancient deprecated python3 version.

Frigate uses Python3.9, which is not yet completely EOL, but is simply no longer rolled out natively by debian. I now have to use backports, which I am extremely reluctant to do.

I've tried to test it, but after enter Yes in the first dialog it briefly shows 404: Not Found, but seems continue:

You scripts seems to use Debian 12, but the script still asks for 11?

Ignore the 404, its my Dev Branch.

Debian 11 is the only possible way, Backport to 3.9 not possible with Debian 12. Too old.

I recently learned about this option when trying to install my coral tpu on newer OS (I haven't been successful yet, but that's expected as I don't really know what I'm doing 😀). Yes, of course you can, but that doesn't make maintenance any easier. In other words, it's just a fuzzy package. That's why we have often considered removing Frigate (natively) and only providing it as a docker container.

Normally the branch is not there for user testing either, but Frigate is too much to merge against anything

I'm pretty sure its for new installations only.

So you will create a new LXC using this script, then take a copy of your frigate config file from your existing LXC and add to your new LXC and upgrade.

I've tried to install new Frigate version 0.15 with the script, but it does not work, the interface shows up, but then nothing more.

I'm trying now to create a docker container and then installing Frigate in Docker, following the instructions on their site.

In the proxmox container config file I've added

PS: my fault was not to check the bus where the coral is connected via lsusb

So I've changed the row
lxc.mount.entry: /dev/bus/usb/002/ dev/bus/usb/002/ none bind,optional,create=dir 0, 0
with the row
lxc.mount.entry: /dev/bus/usb/001/ dev/bus/usb/001/ none bind,optional,create=dir 0, 0

and now it's working fine.

Can we do a VM version of the script as well? Finally have GPU virtualization and want to take advantage of it.
Also, it seems that it is easier/better to pass the USB port into the VM/LXC than it is to pass the Coral USB device.

Update:

• I have now set the version to 14 in our repo. This means that all new installations will work for the time being. (Frigate: Use Fixed Version 14 #2288)
• I have already built a DEV script, which will probably be "extra" in the project, because the effects are not yet clear, I also don't have enough hardware to test it (Semantic Search) - and the script itself is a load of garbage. I don't have the time to completely redesign it at the moment, I'll probably concentrate on 0.16 to design a stable LXC.
• I have sent a request to Frigate regarding the Python3 version ([QA] Python 3 Version Update in Frigate (Debian Compatibility) blakeblackshear/frigate#16521)
  => There will be an update of python3 with the 0.16 version, which is better for us, because then we don't have to work with incompatible versions or backports.

Since I plan to run the latest version, I've looked through Frigate official documentation it says that Proxmox recommendation for this type of application is to use "Proxmox QEMU VM".

In this case, I should simply use the script for the Docker VM and configure Frigate as normal? Would that avoid most of these LXC issues?

Probably yes, but unfortunately I haven't been able to test it, I only have one ONVIF camera in the house, and it runs natively 😄 Feel free to test it & give feedback

Thanks for update, i am really looking forward a new version script since LXC version is working with HW Aceelation (Intel) out of the box, i can't make the iGPU passthrough via VM+Docker Version (Tried so many setup and guideline) .

It's running fine with me the new 0.15 version, but I've used just the Docker script to create a privileged LXC and then I've followed the Frigate docs to install it via docker, I have a Google coral on a minipc.

I followed your posted message but am still getting errors. Question, did you have to install the Edge TPU runtime or follow any of the instructions from the Coral.ai site? And if you did, was it on the proxmox host or the frigate LXC? https://coral.ai/docs/accelerator/get-started/

No, I haven't installed anything beside the docker LXC via script and Frigate via Docker instructions with docker compose replacing /path/to/your with your local folder
Then after the lxc creation, stop it if necessary, and replace all the lxc. lines in the LXC_ID.conf in the /etc/pve/lxc folder on the proxmox server with the ones that I've posted before.
Pay attention to the line lxc.mount.entry: /dev/bus/usb/002/ dev/bus/usb/002/ none bind,optional,create=dir 0, 0 , the 002 (there are two of them) have to be changed with the real bus value found with the result of lsusb command related to the Google Coral stick

It works! Thanks so much for your help. I didn't realize I had to copy all the lxc lines in the conf. Previously, I selected which lines to add. All good now.

In case it is helpful to others, I used the Proxmox community script to install Frigate 0.15 (before the recent change to use 0.14) with Debian 11 in an LXC. The only problem was the sqlite-vec module for semantic search was not installed. I followed the Docker shell script (see build_sqlite_vec.sh) to install manually. Once the vec0.so library was copied, everything including semantic search worked fine for me. I am using an Intel GPU and Coral.

I applaud moving to Debian 12 but at least I was able to get Frigate 0.15 to work with Debian 11 in an LXC.

here's hoping there's a for easy install script, I'd love to upgrade, although last I checked the 11th gen (rocket lake) igpu passthrough doesnt work still so if I want to share the gpu out its gotta be in containers.
